I recorded these songs fourteen years ago now while moving away from home for the first time. I didn't know anything about anything, but I thought I did, and it comes through in the lyrics. It's funny listening back, thinking about how young I was, singing about nostalgia and the future I was grasping at all in a single verse.

The lo-fi quality was intentional and a result of limiting myself to a four-track cassette recorder and a few microphones. My goal was to capture a moment in my life no matter how messy or unpolished. To this day, I'm still proud of the moment I captured in these songs and have always felt like more could come of it, like a photograph inspiring a painting or better photographs. I thought maybe, one day, I'd have the time to start writing music again, and that this little EP might act as a seed of a thing I was onto way back when that could grow into something new.

I've had that time this past year and have been working on something reminiscent of this thing I made so long ago, yet new and different and informed by the memory of that future I was grasping at the time. I'm not sure when I'll finish and release it, but I will, because music is once again making me feel passionate.

All songs by Overred. Zach played drums and sang. Eric sang on the last song. Recorded on Eric's four-track and an old Magnavox cassette recorder between the months of March and December 2006. Mixed and mastered by Overred with help from Eric. Nick took the cover photo.
